What you’ll be doing

You’ll take ownership of day-to-day accounting while supporting project-level financial performance:

Core Accounting Execution

  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, including vendor invoices, client billing, and payment tracking
  • Maintain the general ledger, prepare journal entries, and perform account reconciliations
  • Support month-end close and ensure accuracy of financial data

Project & Job Cost Accounting

  • Set up and manage project financials within Unanet
  • Track labor, materials, and subcontractor costs
  • Support project managers with budget visibility and financial performance
  • Assist with WIP reporting and project-level financial reviews

Systems & Process Improvement

  • Utilize Unanet ERP for financial tracking and reporting
  • Identify inefficiencies and help improve accounting workflows
  • Support efforts to standardize processes and improve consistency

Compliance & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate financial records for audit and compliance purposes
  • Support documentation for federal contracts and reporting requirements
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and financial policies

Collaboration & Business Support

  • Partner with leadership and project teams to ensure financial accuracy
  • Support budgeting discussions and financial planning
  • Provide insight into potential risks and areas for improvement

What you bring

  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • Experience in construction, engineering, or project-based accounting (strongly preferred)
  • Solid understanding of job cost accounting and project financials
  • Experience working in an ERP system (Unanet or similar is a plus)
  • Working knowledge of GAAP
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams
  • CPA, CMA, CCIFP, or similar certification preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)

Details

  • Location: Flexible / hybrid (based on candidate)
  • Compensation: $90,000 – $110,000, depending on experience
